Bringing over 35 years of drumming, recording, and mixing experience to your song.

Drums

Snare drums

My specialty is adding professionally recorded, live drums and percussion to your song.

Collaboration

Microphone and cymbal

Whether you’re a solo artist or a 7 piece soul band, I would like you to think of me as an extension of your project. At GROOVE, constant open dialogue is paramount to making your project a success.

Mixing

Mixing workstation

Even if I don’t play drums or percussion on your song, I can take your raw tracks and turn them into a polished record.

Tell me about your project.

Number of songs. Music genre, tempo. Provide reference tracks if possible. What sounds, what feel are you looking for?

Hire me.

Once we discuss your project, and set a timeline, I send you a PayPal invoice for 25% of the project cost. You send me your song. Once I receive both, I start creating.

Deliver tracks.

I provide a sample of the song with my performance and mixed as I hear the drums (and any other instruments performed). Once you're satisfied, I invoice you the remaining 75%. You pay, I release the tracks to you.

A And...

You will receive:

Clearly labeled multi mic stems. All tracks will be .WAV files at an agreed upon sample and bit rate. All tracks will be consolidated to the session start. I will also provide the stereo drum track as I hear the mix (optional). I will also provide individual drum samples from the drums and cymbals that were used on your project (optional).

My story

I have been listening to music for more than 40 years, been playing drums for more than 30 years and have been recording and mixing since the mid ‘90s. During that time, I have played and recorded in some of the smallest home studios to the most lavish in the country. Each experience has taught me something new about music.

Where are you from?

I grew up and still live in Connecticut. I’ve been threatening to leave for a while but will probably stay here. I have a house, a beautiful and supporting wife, and two wonderful kids.

How many revisions do I get?

As many (within reason) as you like. Being an “in-the-box” studio that’s geared towards recording drums, I operate in a highly efficient manner that makes revisions and recalls easy and fast. Ultimately, I want you to be absolutely ecstatic with your song and I need to do what it takes to get you to that point.

Do you have a million-dollar studio?

Nope, not even close and my wife is very happy about that! I do have a lot of gear though. From drums to cymbals to pre-amps and mics, I’ve got a bunch and will probably get a bunch more. Oh, and don’t forget the plug-ins...

Have you ever been fired from a project?

Of course I have and it sucks! Luckily that hasn’t happened recently so I must be doing something right.

I can make my own beats. Why should I hire you?

That is a great question. There are tons of great software programs available that can lay down the 2s and 4s (drummer speak). But can they anticipate the chorus and push the tempo a smidge and play behind in the verse? Maybe, maybe not. My goal is to give your song a feel, a groove (see what I did there?).

Can I come and check out your studio?

Sure. Let’s hang. Fun times. We could also do a Skype call — it’ll save you a trip. But if you’ve gotten this far in my bio, we should probably talk.

I’m new to the online recording world. How does this all work?

It’s simple! Seriously. Send me your song. I record drums. I send it back to you. Never was a fan of getting bogged down in the technical. Let’s make music!

Just drums?

Yup. I’m also providing the studio, actual physical drums, mics, pre-amps etc. etc. Need percussion too? I’ve got you covered. Shakers, tambourines, an Australian rain stick.. well, you get the picture. Percussion is never considered an additional expense at GROOVE Recording.

What’s a paradiddle?

RLRR LRLL!

I mixed and played drums and percussion on all of these tracks.
